03 September 2010 TEMPEST BLOWS AWAY THE OPPOSITION
Following three fine thirds in maiden company, GOLDEN TEMPEST took her first step into handicap company in brilliant style when winning this evening’s 6f nursery at sunny Sunbury. Poorly drawn, she travelled in midfield throughout the early stages, before Shane gave her the office at the furlong pole, to draw away for a 3 length success, much to the delight of the Silver Linings partnership.
02 September 2010 HALYARD FLIES HIS OWN FLAG
The Hall of Fame Partners thoroughly enjoyed their moment in the spotlight last night at Kempton when their 3yo son of Halling scored his first victory in his 10f Hcap. 5lb claimer John Fahy was again his pilot and they duly improved on their previous 3rd but it was no easy passage. They had to be patient until the crown of the final bend before making their move through the field and at the furlong pole looked the certain winner. However, the eventual 2nd made them work very hard and even got its nose in front but our fellow battled back in the final strides, smiling for the photo in the process.
23 August 2010 ABSINTHE BRINGS ON THAT HEADY FEELING
Named after a highly-alcoholic, anise-flavoured spirit, ABSINTHE followed up his debut win with another fine performance at rain-soaked Windsor. Confidently ridden by AK, he led fully two furlongs out in the 1m 2f contest and drew clear readily, before being eased for a comfortable two length victory. The Cambridgeshire is now an autumn target for this fast improving individual.
19 August 2010 MONSIEUR JOE DEFIES THE ODDS
Despite the 'benefit' of an awful draw and being barged into the centre of the track inside the first 2 furlongs, MONSIEUR JOE and Eddie Ahern produced a staggering effort in the last 2 furlongs of their 5f Hcap to win the final race on the 3rd day of York's Ebor meeting. It was further evidence, if any is actually needed, of what a wonderfully game and genuine sprinter 'Joe' is and has simply added another notch to the satisfaction level for owner Helen Checkley.
18 August 2010 ALL THE THREE'S, 33
SAUTE further advertised the yard's well being with a gutsy performance at Kempton last night. Always in the front rank the 3/1 shot was confidently ridden by Adam Kirby and off the final bend he kicked for home. Within a few strides he had the race at his mercy, easily winning by three lengths. This was his third success (his first over two miles) and the stables 33rd victory this year. Congratulations to the winning connections.
13 August 2010 DESERT STORMS HOME
With storm clouds overhead and a torrential downpour some 20 minutes before race time DESERT POPPY'S owners gathered in anticipation as to whether their ultra consistent filly would not only be effective on the rain-softened ground but if the extra furlong (6f) would be within her compass. Thankfully as the race unfolded all concerns were forgotten. Under the expert guidance of SHANE KELLY the filly disputed the lead from the off and as the race started in earnest the result was never in doubt. From the two furlong marker this daughter of Oasis Dream eased into the lead pulling clear in the final, winning by a very easy four and a half lengths. Congratulations to the OASIS DREAMERS who have a nice filly on their hands
11 August 2010 IT’S A GREAT NIGHT FOR THE NIGHT
TAGULA NIGHT has been steadily regaining his form this season and he duly scored over Sandown’s five furlongs on his fifth outing this year. Making the most of a good draw against the far rail, he tracked the early leader before taking it up inside the final furlong and running on strongly for a 1½ length success for his jubilant owners Messrs Hufford, Moss and Papworth.
05 August 2010 ABSINTHE BRINGS UP THE THIRTY
Never out of the first three in his career to-date, ABSINTHE finally got the win that his consistency deserved, when taking the last at Sandown Park, to bring up the 30 winner mark for the yard. A muddling race with the pace ranging from breakneck, to dawdle, to sprint was not in his favour and he was keen to get on with things, having not raced for 120 days. Adam Kirby tracked the leaders throughout the 1m 2f contest before delivering a decisive turn of foot at the furlong pole, to go on to score by ½ length. Still relatively unexposed, hopefully better things beckon for the son of King’s Best.
04 August 2010 A SAD DAY FOR THE YARD
In the midst of a really good year for the stable, we were dealt a hammer blow this morning with the news that STOTSFOLD had died on the operating table during the night. Almost 3 weeks after his career-best effort in winning the Gala Stakes at Sandown he was found to be suffering with colic and following several days of intense treatment and observation, he seemed to be over it. Sadly the problem recurred late last night and he was immediately taken to the Newmarket Equine Hospital but they were unable to save him. The homebred 7-year-old will be greatly missed around the yard but the memories will definitely linger long.
31 July 2010 WIN NO. 3 FOR WATCH AMIGO
The 4yo Royal Applause gelding came back from his 56-day break following his Doncaster run to make it 3 wins from just 6 outings in his 7f Hcap at Newmarket. Although there was no early pace, Shane Kelly managed to get him tucked behind the leader before making his telling move once they hit the rising ground a furlong out and crossed the line ½ length to the good. Further congratulations go to Ian Harris & Tim Halpin.
